Aayubowan!

I warmly welcome you to the official website of the Sri Lankan Welfare Association, commonly known as SAHANA. Our association was initially established in 2012 by kindhearted Sri Lankans and was officially licensed in 2015 as a ‘Non-profit Social Club’, regulated by the Dubai Community Development Authority (CDA).

As the only registered welfare organization in the UAE, we at SAHANA strive to assist Sri Lankans residing in all the seven Emirates during their time of need to the best of our abilities, using available resources. Our diverse group of Members and Volunteers are our greatest strength. Their continued support has fortified our noble cause of serving distressed community members.

With their support, our Members, volunteers, and our generous sponsors demonstrated their true spirits of being Sri Lankans during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many community projects were launched by SAHANA during the pandemic, including projects such as the distribution of dry rations and hot meals, facilitating medical assistance, as well as sponsoring air tickets for repatriation.

The strong alliances we have with the Sri Lankan Embassy and the Consul General’s office for Dubai & Northern Emirates make it possible for us to support our community, adhering to the guidance of the CDA, Dubai.

I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to the Board of Directors, Core Committee members, Sub Committee members, members, volunteers, sponsors, their families, and the community in UAE for their continuous support extended towards our association, enabling us to serve vulnerable Sri Lankans.

I have no doubt that with support from our fellow Sri Lankans, we can achieve greater milestones. Hence, I wish to request all Sri Lankan residents in the UAE to register with SAHANA as a member while allocating your spare time to volunteer in our future projects. Additionally, we encourage support from Business organizations to partner with us and sponsor our community services and projects.
